Deadline Looms: Vermonters Must Apply for Irene Help: Vermont Poverty Law Fellow Continues Work With Irene’s Victims
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is reminding Vermonters hurt by Tropical Storm Irene that the deadline for applying for federal assistance is Tuesday, November 15. To date, nearly 7,000 individuals and businesses have applied for aid. FEMA spokeswoman Deanna Frazier said that approximately $43 million in disaster assistance has been distributed in grants and low-interest loans.
Vermont Poverty Law Fellow Jessica Radbord has been working on safe housing issues since her Fellowship began last summer. In May, she helped those hurt as a result of severe spring flooding. Perfectly poised to help in the aftermath of Irene, Ms. Radbord has devoted 100% of her time to helping those in Vermont suffering from the devastating tropical storm.
