Joseph,” a mobile home owner in the Rutland, Vermont area, was unable to work due to health problems, had fallen behind in mortgage payments, and faced foreclosure.
Desperate to remain in his home, he called on the Rutland Pilot Project, which is funded in part by the Vermont Bar Foundation, to provide legal assistance.
An attorney for the Pilot Project negotiated with the mortgage company to modify Joseph’s monthly mortgage payments, making them more affordable.
Ultimately, Joseph was able to remain in his home, and the foreclosure action was dismissed. Afterward, he expressed his gratitude: “I don’t know how to improve on ‘excellent’. You were knowledgeable about the problem, courteous to me and in the end – saving the day and getting what we wanted.”
